The Beginning
'What's The Pointe?' has been created to share intimate accounts, ideas and topics of a ballerina. Written by Emily Ward, the intention is to discuss, liberate and raise awareness of everything that comes to mind when living the life as a complex artist, always in search of that complete embodiment of the mind, body and soul.
I have found having an outlet of ideas is key to my personal freedom of artistic expression. In the current times we live in, we are all doing our own adjustments to live in the confinements of quarantine. The process of introspection is growing deeper and I feel like I'm often exploding of ideas, energy, and have the yearning to simply "make things happen", but at the same time feeling so restricted in my own four walls. I've been cut off from my main source of expression: dancing (and doing it in front of a screen on zoom simply doesn't cut it). I would love to share with you all what has been helpful, and also useless, during this time. But also, this period has made me think in a more profound way about what has suddenly been taken from me, wanting to dive into past experiences, bring them to the surface and use this crucial time to heal. I believe that my experiences shared can help other people who have also gone through similar, relatable moments. So we can all go back to the world creating a better stage for ourselves.
I also must add that this blog was created some years ago, but no words could make it to the page. Maybe it was waiting for the perfect moment to be picked up again. However, I would like to carry on this blog for as long as I have the urge to share my thoughts with you all. For those that have gotten this far, thank you for reading.
Let me leave you with a quote from Headspace I got on my morning meditation:

"Peace of mind is rarely found in a past remembered, or a future imagined. It's found in our willingness to embrace this very moment."See you on the next post!
